Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo — the name itself means "cherry-coloured" in Italian — represents one of Italy's most underestimated dry rosé traditions, rooted in the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo zone of central Italy's Adriatic foothills. Vasu Vasu sources fruit from vineyards planted on the clay-limestone soils characteristic of this subregion, where elevation between 250–400 metres moderates the continental climate and extends the growing season.

The winemaking follows Cerasuolo protocol: Montepulciano grapes undergo 12–24 hours of skin contact in temperature-controlled conditions, extracting colour and tannin structure without the oxidative risk of extended maceration. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, preserving aromatic freshness and the wine's characteristic mineral backbone. The result is bottled young, typically within months of harvest, capturing the vintage's primary character.

What distinguishes this expression is its savoury mineral edge — a function of Abruzzo's limestone subsoil — which prevents the wine from reading as merely fruity. The acidity remains medium-full, typical of Montepulciano, lending structure and food-pairing versatility uncommon in lighter European rosés.

Drink within 1–2 years of vintage for optimal freshness and aromatic definition.

Pairs well with

  • Soft & creamy cheese
  • Grilled & roasted fish
  • Cured meats & charcuterie

Sommelier’s pick: Burrata with heirloom tomato and basil — the acidity cuts through richness while mineral notes echo the tomato's earthiness · Grilled branzino with lemon and rosemary — the wine's tannin structure supports the fish's delicate flesh without overwhelming it · Vitello tonnato (veal with tuna sauce) — the wine's savoury profile complements both the meat and the anchovy-caper complexity
