Cerasuolo D'Abruzzo DOC Rose
฿
DOC.
Talamonti was established in the early 2000s in Loreto Aprutino, a hilltop commune in the Pescara province that sits at the crossroads of Apennine altitude and Adriatic maritime influence — a combination that keeps ripeness in check even for a grape as thick-skinned as Montepulciano. The estate's vineyards occupy clay-limestone soils at elevations that deliver a marked diurnal range, slowing phenolic development and locking in natural acidity.
Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is the only Italian DOC dedicated exclusively to rosato from Montepulciano, and the name itself — cerasuolo, meaning cherry-red — signals that this is no pale Provençal bleed. Brief but deliberate skin maceration extracts the grape's characteristic deep ruby-pink pigment and a structural backbone uncommon in rosé. Fermentation proceeds at controlled temperatures to preserve aromatic freshness, with no oak contact, keeping the fruit profile direct and the mineral salinity of the terroir audible.
What separates Cerasuolo from most rosé categories is its built-in tannic grip — light but present — giving it the architecture to age a year or two beyond release rather than demanding immediate consumption. Drink through 2026.
