Domaines Ott Clos Mireille Rose
฿1,700
Domaines Ott planted Clos Mireille in 1936 on a coastal estate near La Londe-les-Maures, deliberately choosing a site where the Mediterranean's maritime winds force the vines to anchor deep into sandy, rocky soils laced with schist and quartz — conditions that suppress yields and concentrate mineral tension in the fruit. The estate sits just kilometres from the sea, and the constant Mistral and sea breezes extend the growing season, preserving natural acidity while moderating alcohol.
Clos Mireille Rosé is produced by direct-press, with minimal skin contact to extract pale colour and delicate aromatic compounds without phenolic weight. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving the site's saline, citrus-driven character. The wine is bottled early to retain freshness, in Ott's instantly recognisable amphora-shaped flacon — a design unchanged since the 1930s and unique in Provence.
What separates Clos Mireille from the broader Côtes de Provence appellation is its coastal single-estate provenance: the proximity to the sea imprints a persistent salinity rarely found in inland Provence rosés. Drink within two to three years of vintage to capture that mineral-saline lift at its most vivid.
