Donna Marzia Rosato - Tentazione Rose
฿฿
Conti Zecca has farmed the Salento peninsula's heel-tip since 1935, and the Donna Marzia line was built explicitly to express the estate's flatland terroir without the weight of the region's traditional red winemaking. The Tentazione Rosato is drawn entirely from Negroamaro, a variety whose name — literally "black-bitter" — signals the phenolic density that must be carefully managed in rosé production.
Salento's soils are red calcareous clay over limestone bedrock, retaining heat through the night and pushing grapes to full phenolic ripeness while the Adriatic and Ionian sea breezes moderate daytime temperatures. The result is fruit concentration without flabbiness. Winemaking is deliberately reductive: brief cold maceration on skins extracts colour and aromatic compounds without tannin extraction, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel with no oak contact and no malolactic conversion, preserving the grape's natural acidity. The wine is bottled early to lock in aromatics. What sets this expression apart within Salento rosato is the deliberate restraint on skin contact — most regional producers push longer maceration for deeper colour, but Conti Zecca pulls back to keep the wine pale copper and structurally nimble. Drink within 2–3 years of vintage for peak aromatic lift.
