Los Vascos Rose
฿
SaleLos Vascos, established 1988 in Colchagua Valley, represents Domaines Barons de Rothschild's singular Chilean venture—a deliberate choice to plant on the valley's eastern benchlands where diurnal temperature swings sharpen acidity and mineral precision in red varieties.
The vineyard sits at moderate elevation within Colchagua's central corridor, where alluvial soils derived from Andean runoff deliver both structure and drainage. The rosé draws primarily from Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified as a dry style with brief skin contact—typically 12–18 hours—to extract color and tannin without sacrificing the delicate aromatic profile characteristic of premium Chilean rosé.
This expression stands apart from fruit-forward New World rosés through its mineral backbone and savory herb complexity, a direct result of Colchagua's continental climate and the producer's commitment to food-centric winemaking rather than aperitif sweetness.
The current vintage displays pale salmon hue with white-stone minerality and dried herb notes. Drink within 2–3 years of release for optimal freshness and structural integrity.
