Le Puy Rose-Marie
฿฿฿
Château Le Puy has farmed the same clay-limestone plateau above the Dordogne valley without interruption since 1610 — making it one of Bordeaux's longest-documented single-family estates. That continuity is not romantic posturing: it underpins a strict refusal to add sulfites at any stage, a practice the Amoreau family has maintained for generations while most Bordeaux producers consider SO₂ non-negotiable.
The estate sits in Côtes de Francs, where the plateau soils combine active limestone with a clay subsoil that retains moisture through dry summers, moderating stress and preserving natural acidity in the fruit. The elevation and easterly aspect extend the growing season relative to the Libournais floor below.
Rose-Marie is vinified with native yeasts exclusively, undergoes no fining or filtration, and is bottled without added sulfur. Fermentation and aging take place in a combination of older oak and neutral vessels to avoid imposing wood character on the delicate fruit. Malolactic fermentation proceeds naturally.
What sets Rose-Marie apart within Bordeaux rosé is the combination of certified biodynamic viticulture, zero-sulfite bottling, and unfiltered clarity — a trifecta almost no appellation peer attempts at this price point.
The wine is built for early drinking but the intact acidity and absence of oxidative intervention allow it to develop gracefully over two to three years from vintage.
