Santa Julia Cuy Malbec Rose Natural Wine
฿1,000
José Alberto Zuccardi named this brand after his daughter Julia in the 1980s, and the Natural line it eventually spawned represents the family's most deliberate break from Mendoza convention: zero additions, ambient fermentation, and a refusal to fine or filter. The Cuy Malbec Rosé draws fruit from Familia Zuccardi's Maipú estate on Ruta Provincial 33 — gravel and sandy soils at approximately 650 m a.s.l. under an arid continental climate where wide diurnal swings lock acidity into the berry skins before harvest. Those free-draining soils suppress vigour and concentrate flavour without irrigation-driven dilution. Fermentation proceeds on indigenous yeasts with no sulfur additions, the hallmark of the Natural line; the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving texture and a faint natural haze that signals zero processing aids. What sets this expression apart within the rosé category is the combination of certified-organic Malbec — sourced from Argentina's single largest organically certified vineyard holding (~400 ha) — with a completely additive-free protocol at a price point where such commitments are almost nonexistent. Drink young to capture the primary fruit and the lively, unmanipulated acidity that defines the current vintage.
