Askos Susumaniello Rosato Salento IGT
฿฿
Masseria Li Veli operates across the Salento peninsula's limestone plateau, where Susumaniello—a native Puglian variety—ripens under intense Mediterranean sun moderated by Adriatic winds. The vineyard soils are predominantly calcareous clay, elevation 80–120 meters, with morning maritime influence tempering afternoon heat.
The rosato is produced via direct pressing of whole Susumaniello clusters, minimizing skin contact to preserve pale salmon color and aromatic delicacy. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel, retaining freshness and primary fruit character. No oak aging; the wine is bottled young to capture the vintage's brightness.
Susumaniello is rarely encountered outside Puglia—a transgressive choice for a serious rosato, as the variety's natural tannin structure and acidity typically favor red winemaking. Here, the direct-press method channels those tannins into textural grip rather than astringency, creating a rosato with measurable structure.
Drink 2024–2026 for optimal aromatic intensity and mineral precision.
