Rose Rioja DOC
฿฿
Bodegas Muga, founded in 1932 in Haro (Rioja Alta), built its reputation on classical winemaking discipline—a philosophy evident in this rosé. The vineyard sites sit at 450–500 meters elevation across Rioja Alta's clay-limestone soils, where morning fog and afternoon sun create conditions that favor aromatic freshness and natural acidity.
The wine is produced via limited skin contact (typically 4–8 hours) on Tempranillo and Garnacha, then fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature to preserve delicate aromatics. A portion undergoes brief oak aging (4–6 months in neutral wood), adding subtle structure without masking the fruit. The result is bone-dry, with no residual sugar.
What distinguishes Muga's rosé within the Rioja category is its refusal of the modern trend toward darker, fruit-forward styles: this is a wine built for the table, not the aperitif alone. Pale salmon in color, it carries the mineral spine and tannin grip typical of serious Rioja producers.
The current release shows white stone fruit, wild strawberry, and a saline minerality that reflects the limestone subsoil. Drink now through 2026 for maximum freshness and food compatibility.
