How we classify reputation
A small number of bottles on WNLQ9 carry an Iconic or Renowned badge. These describe standing, not a rating — they draw on several signals together, not any single number.
We weigh four things: the bottle's designation (for example a Grand Cru or a long-aged spirit), independent critic recognition, how sought-after it is relative to comparable bottles, and the producer's standing. A bottle needs meaningful signal across more than one of these to qualify — a high price alone is not enough.
Iconic bottles are additionally backed by independent critical recognition. Renowned bottles are strong on the other signals without yet meeting that bar. Most bottles in the catalog carry no badge at all — that is the ordinary case, not an omission.
These signals are recalculated regularly as new data comes in, so a bottle's badge can change over time.
