Rose Syrah
฿
Viña Aromo has farmed the Maule Valley since 1922, a century-old operation in one of Chile's most southerly and climatically demanding wine zones. The estate's rosé draws from Syrah grown on the valley floor's volcanic clay soils, where poor nutrient retention forces deep root development and naturally constrains yields — the mechanism behind Maule's characteristically concentrated, savory fruit profile.
The wine is produced as a direct-press rosé, with minimal skin contact to preserve pale colour and freshness. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel, retaining primary aromatics without the weight of oak or extended lees aging. The result is a bone-dry style with no malolactic softening, keeping acidity taut and the palate lean.
What separates this expression from most entry-level Chilean rosé is the choice of Syrah as the sole variety — a grape that, even in brief skin contact, contributes a distinctive savory, peppery character absent from the Cabernet or Merlot rosés that dominate the category at this price point. A practical, high-volume wine that nonetheless reflects a specific terroir decision.
