Rías Baixas in northwest Spain's Galicia produces Spain's finest white wines from the Albariño grape. The Atlantic climate brings abundant rainfall, and vineyards are traditionally trained on pergolas (parras) to promote air circulation and prevent rot. The resulting wines are crisp, aromatic, and mineral, with stone fruit, citrus, and saline notes — perfect partners for Galicia's exceptional seafood. Val do Salnés is the most prized subzone, closest to the coast. Pazo de Señoráns, Martín Códax, and Do Ferreiro are benchmark producers. The DO was established in 1988.
