−14%Viña Luis Felipe Edwards built its reputation on a deliberate multi-valley sourcing strategy, and the Alto Los Romeros Sauvignon Blanc is a direct expression of that philosophy — drawing on cool-influenced sites across Colchagua and potentially the Leyda Valley, where estate blocks at El Canelo and Atalaya sit just 2–9 km from the Pacific. Leyda's marine-origin loam over sandstone-quartz and alluvial clay-gravel-granite soils impose a structural tension and persistent acidity that warm-valley Chilean Sauvignon Blanc rarely achieves at this price tier. At the Puquillay Alto estate in Colchagua, granitic and volcanic rock substrates at elevations up to 900 m asl further sharpen the fruit profile, slowing ripening and preserving aromatic lift. Winemaking at the Puquillay facility employs pneumatic pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation — the cold-side discipline that locks in primary aromatics in a variety this volatile. Oak is not part of the equation at this varietal tier, keeping the wine's expression entirely site-driven. What separates this from the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc crowd is the genuine altitude and coastal proximity behind it — structural conditions more commonly associated with Casablanca or San Antonio, deployed here at a sub-฿1,000 price point. The 2023 vintage from Central Chile benefited from moderate conditions following the drought years of 2021–22, with recovered vine balance supporting brighter natural acidity.
