Barolo 'La Serra' (1.5 L) (Wooden Case)
฿฿฿฿
Marcarini's La Serra sits on the Cannubi cru of Barolo, one of Piedmont's most prestigious south-facing slopes. The vineyard's calcareous marl and limestone soils, combined with elevation around 300 meters, produce grapes with natural acidity and mineral tension that define the site's character.
The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, then aged in large oak casks (botti) for 24 months, avoiding the new-oak saturation common in modern Barolo. This technique preserves the Nebbiolo's structural integrity and allows the wine to develop complexity without oak dominance. A further 12 months in bottle precedes release.
La Serra distinguishes itself through restraint: the producer prioritizes the terroir's mineral spine and tannin architecture over fruit-forward extraction. The 1.5 L format extends the wine's evolution window, offering deeper aging potential than standard bottles.
This vintage drinks now but will develop for 15–20 years, revealing secondary layers of dried rose, leather, and earth as primary fruit recedes.
