When Maxime Cheurlin took over Domaine Georges Noëllat in 2010 at age twenty, the estate had spent the previous two decades selling every barrel in bulk to Louis Jadot and Joseph Drouhin — meaning the domaine's entire bottled reputation rests on a single generation's work. That debut also introduced a technically unusual choice: actively cooling the cellar to delay and slow malolactic fermentation, a discipline Cheurlin credits with adding precision to wines that might otherwise read as simply pretty.

Les Vignerindes sits in the northern sector of Nuits-Saint-Georges on classic Côte de Nuits argilo-calcaire — clay-limestone where the limestone fraction drives drainage and aromatic definition while the clay underpins concentration. The 2021 frost reduced volumes sharply, concentrating what remained into focused, precise fruit with the characteristic lacy tension of the domaine's infusion philosophy.

100% destemmed Pinot Noir, cold pre-fermentation maceration, native yeasts only, punch-downs rare and deliberately gentle. Aged in French oak barriques 14–20 months; bottled unfined and unfiltered. Cheurlin's blood connection to the Jayer lineage and his cousin relationship to Emmanuel Rouget's sons places this winemaking approach at the precise centre of Vosne-Romanée's most celebrated tradition — yet the cellar-cooling technique for delayed malolactic is a transgression no peer in that lineage employs.
