Domaine de la Mordorée Chateauneuf-du-Pape "La Dame Voyageuse" (Magnum) (1.5 L)
฿฿฿
La Dame Voyageuse takes its name from the wandering spirit of Domaine de la Mordorée's founding philosophy: a wine built to travel across decades, not continents. Sited in the southern Rhône Valley's Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, this expression draws from parcels planted across the region's distinctive terroir of large rolled stones (galets roulés) and clay-limestone subsoils that retain summer heat and moderate water stress.
The blend centers on Grenache, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve aromatic precision, then aged 18 months in neutral French oak (no new wood) to allow the fruit and tannin structure to develop without oak overlay. The magnum format—1.5 liters—slows oxidation and extends the wine's evolution in bottle, a deliberate choice for serious collectors. Acidity remains medium-full, balancing the wine's natural alcohol (typically 14.5–15%) and ripe fruit character.
This is a Châteauneuf built for patience: the 2019 and 2020 vintages show primary red-fruit intensity now, but will develop secondary complexity—leather, dried herbs, mineral undertones—over 15–20 years of proper cellaring. The magnum format is particularly suited to this trajectory.
