Caol Ila (Islay) contributes a clean maritime smoke that lifts the finish without overwhelming the sweeter core. Matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks and bottled at 41.7% ABV — a departure from the standard 40% of most core Johnnie Walker expressions — the blend is chill-filtered in line with standard Diageo practice.
