That gimmick, however, is anchored in a deliberate blending decision: the liquid was composed to be served ice-cold, which shaped the flavour architecture from the outset. The blend draws on Cardhu (Speyside) as its honeyed, fruit-forward heart — the same distillery the Walker family acquired in 1893 and which has anchored the house style for over a century — alongside Clynelish (Highland), whose waxy, coastal character holds texture at low temperatures where lighter grain whiskies would flatten. Caol Ila (Islay) contributes a clean maritime smoke that lifts the finish without overwhelming the sweeter core. Matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks and bottled at 41.7% ABV — a departure from the standard 40% of most core Johnnie Walker expressions — the blend is chill-filtered in line with standard Diageo practice.
