Evan Williams Black Label is Heaven Hill Distillery's flagship straight bourbon, named after Evan Williams, who established one of Kentucky's earliest commercial distilleries on the banks of the Ohio River in 1783. That heritage anchors Heaven Hill's commitment to high-volume, consistent production at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville — one of the largest bourbon operations in the state.

The mash bill is corn-dominant (typical of Kentucky straight bourbon), fermented using a proprietary yeast strain and sour mash process, then double-distilled in column stills. Maturation takes place in new charred American white oak barrels (char #3) at Heaven Hill's rick houses in Bardstown, where the continental Kentucky climate — hot summers, cold winters — drives deep barrel penetration and extraction of caramel and vanilla compounds from the wood.

Bottled at 43% ABV, Evan Williams Black is non-chill-filtered at this proof level, preserving natural oils. What sets it apart in the value segment is Heaven Hill's scale: the distillery controls its own rickhouses, grain sourcing, and barrel inventory, allowing consistent age selection that most ฿999-tier bourbons cannot replicate.
