Heaven hill Rittenhouse Rye Whisky (700 ml)
฿1,519
Rittenhouse Rye carries the name of Philadelphia's historic Rittenhouse Square, a nod to rye whiskey's pre-Prohibition heartland in Pennsylvania — yet it is distilled entirely in Bardstown, Kentucky, at Heaven Hill's Nelson County facility, where the limestone-filtered water and continental climate of the Knobs region drive aggressive seasonal barrel cycling.
The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 governs every bottle: a single distillery, a single distillation season, aged a minimum of four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof (50% ABV). Heaven Hill uses new charred American oak barrels — the legal requirement for straight rye — and the warehouse's upper floors, where temperature swings exceed 30°C annually, accelerate wood extraction and spice integration.
The mash bill clears the 51% rye minimum required for the category designation, producing the assertive grain character that separates it from wheated or high-corn mashbills. What makes Rittenhouse unusual is its BIB status at this price tier: bonded rye at ฿1,519 is a rarity globally, as most BIB expressions command significant premiums.
Expect the rye grain to dominate — caraway, dried orange peel, black pepper — with char-driven vanilla underneath. Drink now or hold; the 100-proof structure supports another 5–8 years in bottle.
