Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey (700 ml)
฿1,199
Tullamore D.E.W. takes its initials from Daniel E. Williams, the distillery manager who built the brand into a national export in the late 19th century — a deliberate act of personal branding at a time when Irish whiskey dominated global markets. That heritage now anchors a triple-blend philosophy unique in the Irish category.
Produced in the flat, temperate Irish Midlands of County Offaly, the whiskey draws on the region's soft, limestone-filtered water — a consistent mineral baseline that keeps the spirit approachable across its three grain types: pot still, single malt, and grain whiskey, each distilled separately before blending.
The signature technique is triple-cask maturation: ex-bourbon barrels contribute vanilla and coconut character; ex-Oloroso sherry casks layer dried fruit and spice; ex-rum casks introduce a subtle tropical sweetness. The three cask streams are blended after individual maturation, not co-matured — a sequencing choice that preserves each wood's distinct contribution before integration.
What sets this expression apart within blended Irish whiskey is the rum-cask component, rare at this price point and responsible for the faintly tropical register that distinguishes it from standard bourbon-and-sherry profiles.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the whiskey is approachable young but rewards a few minutes of air to open the sherry-derived dried fruit layer.
