Ballantine's Finest (700 ml)
฿699
Ballantine's Finest traces its blending philosophy to George Ballantine's Edinburgh grocery shop, founded in 1827, where he began marrying whiskies to achieve consistency across batches — a commercial discipline that shaped the entire Scotch blending industry. The blend draws on over 50 grain and malt whiskies, with Miltonduff and Glenburgie distilleries serving as the malt heart, both operating in Speyside's sheltered Lossie valley where a cool, damp microclimate slows maturation and preserves delicate cereal character. Maturation is carried out in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon casks and Spanish oak ex-sherry butts, the bourbon wood contributing vanilla and coconut fractions while the sherry wood adds dried fruit depth. The grain whisky component — distilled in continuous column stills — provides the light, creamy backbone that distinguishes Finest from heavier blends at this tier. At 40% ABV, it is bottled without age statement, allowing the blending team to source casks at optimal maturity rather than being constrained by a minimum year declaration. The result is a whisky that leans toward approachability without sacrificing the layered malt complexity that defines the Ballantine's house style.
