Dewar's 12 Years Old Blended Scotch Whisky (700 ml)
฿1,399
When Tommy Dewar toured the United States in the 1890s promoting his father John's whisky, he carried a product already distinguished by a technique the industry had not yet named: blending the component whiskies first, then returning the finished blend to oak casks for a further minimum six months before bottling. That Double Aging (marrying) process — now standard practice across the category — was Dewar's invention, and it remains the structural backbone of the 12 Year Old.
The heart malt is Aberfeldy single malt, distilled on the eastern outskirts of Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire using water drawn exclusively from the Pitilie Burn, a natural artesian spring that feeds into the River Tay. The burn's soft, mineral-light character, combined with extra-long fermentation in larch washbacks and medium-height onion-shaped copper pot stills, drives Aberfeldy's signature heather-honey new make. Supporting malts from Craigellachie (worm-tub condensers, Speyside), Royal Brackla, Aultmore, and Macduff broaden the aromatic register before Master Blender Stephanie Macleod assembles up to 30 component whiskies by nosing at the Glasgow facility.
The 12 Year Old receives a first-fill ex-bourbon cask finish during its marrying period — a step up from the standard White Label — amplifying vanilla and soft stone fruit while the second rest knits grain and malt into a cohesion most blends at this price point never achieve. Bottled at 40% ABV.
