818 Tequila, founded by Kendall Jenner and launched in 2021, positioned its Eight Reserve as a deliberate counter to celebrity-brand shortcuts: the liquid is produced in Jalisco's Los Altos (Highlands) region, where red clay and iron-rich volcanic soils at elevations above 2,000 metres force blue Weber agave to grow slower and accumulate higher sugar concentrations than their Lowland counterparts — translating to a rounder, fruit-forward base spirit.

The piñas are cooked in traditional brick ovens, fermented, and double-distilled before entering an extended oak maturation that qualifies Eight Reserve as an extra-añejo — meaning a minimum of three years in barrel under Mexican NOM regulations. American oak casks are the primary vessel, imparting vanilla and caramel integration across the long rest. The result is a tequila that behaves structurally closer to a premium aged whisky than a conventional blanco or reposado.
