Anejo Cristalino (750 ml)
฿฿฿฿
Komos Anejo Cristalino represents a deliberate inversion of tequila tradition: a spirit aged in wood, then stripped of color through activated charcoal filtration to achieve optical transparency while retaining oak-derived complexity.
Produced in the Tequila region of Jalisco, Mexico, this expression begins with blue agave sourced from the volcanic and limestone-rich soils characteristic of the denomination. The agave is cooked, fermented, and distilled before being matured in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of one year (anejo classification). The critical step follows: charcoal filtration removes the amber hue imparted by oak contact, creating a colorless liquid that retains the vanilla, caramel, and wood-spice compounds developed during aging.
The cristalino category—formalized only in 2006—challenges the visual expectation that oak-aged spirits must be brown. Komos executes this technique without sacrificing the textural weight and aromatic depth that barrel maturation provides. The result is a tequila that reads as clear as a blanco on the eye but carries the palate structure of an anejo.
Bottled at standard proof, this expression is intended for immediate consumption, though the oak-derived compounds remain stable in the bottle.
