Paço Dos Infantes Tinto
฿500
Paço dos Infantes draws its name from the historic royal estates of the Douro, a valley carved by the Douro River where terraced vineyards cling to steep schist slopes — the same fractured, heat-retaining rock that forces vine roots metres deep in search of moisture. At elevations where diurnal temperature swings preserve natural acidity, the schist drains aggressively, concentrating sugars and phenolics into small, thick-skinned berries. The blend centres on Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, the Douro's twin pillars — the former contributing deep colour and floral-edged tannin, the latter adding red-fruit brightness and structural backbone. Vinification follows the Douro's traditional approach: short, warm maceration to extract colour and tannin from the schist-stressed fruit, followed by aging in oak to soften the wine's inherent grip. The result is a Douro Tinto that delivers the valley's characteristic density — dark plum, dried fig, and iron-tinged earth — at an accessible price point that makes no concession to dilution. Drink now through 3–4 years for primary fruit, or cellar briefly for further integration.
