Giuseppe E Luigi Temporale I.G.P.
฿
The Reguta estate, run by the Giuseppe e Luigi family in Pocenia on the alluvial plain of the Tagliamento river in eastern Friuli-Venezia Giulia, has long championed indigenous varieties that larger commercial producers abandoned in favour of international grapes. Temporale is built on Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a grape so deeply tied to Friuli that its name — red stalk — describes a physical trait visible at harvest. The Tagliamento plain delivers deep alluvial soils with gravel and sandy-clay layers, which drain freely and force the vine to root deeply, concentrating dark fruit and the variety's characteristic bitter-edged tannin. The flat terrain is tempered by cool Adriatic breezes that preserve natural acidity and slow phenolic ripening. Reguta ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving the grape's vivid fruit character, before a period of oak aging that softens Refosco's angular structure without erasing its identity. What sets Temporale apart within the IGP tier is its uncompromising commitment to a single indigenous variety at an accessible price point — most producers blend Refosco away. The wine drinks well young but rewards 2–4 years of cellaring as its firm tannins integrate.
