When Henri Audiffred returned to his family's 5-hectare Côte de Nuits estate in 2007, he carried with him fourteen years of formation at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti — and a deliberate refusal to let oak speak louder than terroir. That philosophy defines every cuvée, including this Morey-Saint-Denis village wine.

Morey-Saint-Denis sits between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny on the Côte de Nuits escarpment, where the limestone bedrock fractures into a mix of brown-clay soils laced with oolitic and Bathonian limestone fragments — a structure that retains just enough moisture to temper the 2022 heat while preserving the mineral tension the appellation is known for.

100% Pinot Noir, fully destemmed, undergoes a brief cold maceration before wild-yeast fermentation in wooden vats over 15–18 days, with pigeage and remontage performed at least three times daily. Élevage runs 16–18 months in exclusively old oak barrels — zero new wood — followed by two rackings and manual bottling unfined and unfiltered.

The no-new-oak rule is the transgression: in a Côte de Nuits village where many producers lean on 20–30% new barrique to add weight, Henri's approach strips that scaffolding away entirely, leaving the limestone-driven mineral frame fully exposed.

The 2022 vintage delivered generous ripeness across Burgundy; expect a supple, fruit-forward expression that is already approachable but will reward 3–6 years of cellaring.
