Les Tourelles de Longueville Pauillac
฿฿฿
Château Pichon Longueville Baron's second label draws from the estate's 73-hectare holding on Pauillac's Left Bank, where deep gravel beds over clay subsoil define the appellation's signature mineral spine. The vineyard sits at 20–25 metres elevation, southwest-facing slopes that capture afternoon sun across the Gironde estuary's moderating influence.
Production follows classical Bordeaux protocol: Cabernet Sauvignon (typically 70–75%) anchors the blend, with Merlot and Petit Verdot in supporting roles. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled concrete and wooden vats; malolactic conversion in barrel. The wine ages 12–14 months in French oak (30–40% new), allowing secondary maturation without overwhelming the primary fruit structure that distinguishes a second wine.
Les Tourelles functions as Pichon Baron's quality filter—fruit selected from younger vines and less-favoured parcels, yet still rooted in the estate's terroir discipline. This is not a declassified grand vin but a distinct expression: more accessible in its youth than the grand cuvée, yet retaining the architectural tannin and mineral precision of Left Bank Pauillac.
Drink from release through 12–15 years; peak window 5–10 years from vintage.
