Premier Cru, Volnay.

Domaine de La Pousse d'Or's singular holding in Clos de la Bousse d'Or represents one of Burgundy's rare amphora-aged expressions—a deliberate departure from oak that reshapes the wine's mineral architecture. The vineyard occupies the mid-slope of Volnay's premier cru zone, where clay-limestone soils with iron oxide deposits and northeast-facing aspect create conditions for precise phenolic ripeness without overextraction.

The 2019 vintage (the most recent documented release) underwent whole-bunch fermentation in temperature-controlled open vats, followed by 14 months in large-format terracotta amphora—a vessel choice that permits micro-oxidation while eliminating oak tannin overlay. This technique preserves the wine's natural acidity structure and allows the site's mineral signature to emerge unmediated. The amphora regime is the defining technical signature: it softens mid-palate tannins through extended contact with the wine's own sediment, creating a silken mouthfeel atypical of young Volnay.

Drinking window: 2024–2035. The wine will continue to integrate over the next 3–5 years, with the amphora's influence gradually receding as bottle age develops secondary complexity.
