(Bolgheri) Cassiopea Rosato DOC
฿฿
DOC.
Poggio al Tesoro's Cassiopea originates in Bolgheri, a Tuscan coastal enclave 12 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, where maritime winds and calcareous-clay soils define a microclimate distinct from inland Chianti. The vineyard's proximity to the sea moderates temperature swings and imparts a characteristic salinity to finished wines.
The rosato is produced from Sangiovese as the primary variety, vinified with brief skin contact (typically 12–18 hours) to achieve pale salmon coloration while preserving acidity and mineral precision. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving aromatic volatility and freshness. The wine is bottled young, without oak aging, to emphasize the terroir's saline and citrus character.
Cassiopea distinguishes itself through the integration of Bolgheri's maritime influence—a salinity and iodine-tinged minerality uncommon in Tuscan rosatos, which typically emphasize fruit-forward profiles. This expression prioritizes structure and terroir expression over fruit sweetness.
Drink 2024–2026 for optimal freshness and mineral definition.
