When Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow formally founded Fever-Tree in 2004, their core argument was structural: if three-quarters of a drink is the mixer, the mixer must match the spirit. The Premium Pink Grapefruit Soda Water is the clearest expression of that logic applied to a soda format — no quinine, no botanical complexity borrowed from the tonic range, just the base architecture stripped to its essentials and elevated. Carbonated spring water drawn from the Elmhurst source in rural Staffordshire forms the base — a soft, low-mineral water chosen specifically to carry delicate aromatic oils without interference. Scottish West Coast sea salt and bicarbonate of soda are the only mineral additions, calibrated to lift the palate rather than add salinity. The pink grapefruit character is delivered via natural fruit oils and juice, cold-pressed using sfumatrice technique — the same perfume-industry extraction method Fever-Tree applies to Sicilian lemon peel — preserving volatile aromatic compounds that heat-based extraction would destroy. No artificial sweeteners, no sodium benzoate, no synthetic preservatives appear anywhere in the formulation. What distinguishes this SKU within the soda category is the deliberate absence of sweetness: unlike most flavoured sodas, there is no added cane sugar, making it a genuinely dry, high-carbonation platform for spirits or standalone drinking. Fine, small-bubble carbonation sustains the grapefruit oils on the nose through the full length of the glass.
