Johnnie Walker Black Label Highland Origin (1 L)
฿1,899
When John Walker began blending whisky in his Kilmarnock grocery in 1820, he borrowed a logic from the tea trade: sourcing across regions and seasons to eliminate batch variation — a direct transgression against the single-malt orthodoxy of his era. That founding principle is most legibly expressed in Black Label, the house's 12-year-old flagship. The blend draws from approximately 40 malt and grain whiskies, each aged a minimum of 12 years, with three distilleries forming its structural spine: Cardhu (Speyside) contributes honeyed, fruit-forward sweetness as the declared 'heart'; Caol Ila (Islay) delivers clean maritime peat smoke; and Clynelish (Highland) — the origin callout of this 1L expression — adds its signature waxy, coastal texture that no Speyside-only blend can replicate. Maturation runs predominantly in ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak casks; the blend is then chill-filtered and bottled at 40% ABV. What distinguishes Black Label within the Johnnie Walker tier is its deliberate three-axis architecture — smoke, sweetness, and wax held in structural tension — maintained batch-to-batch from a reserve of approximately 10 million casks under master blender Dr. Emma Walker, the first woman to hold that role in the brand's 200-year history.
