Glen Moray has operated on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin since 1897, converting a Victorian brewery into one of Speyside's most approachable distilleries. Elgin sits at the northeastern edge of Speyside, where a relatively dry, cool microclimate slows maturation and preserves delicate grain character in the new make spirit.

The Classic Sherry Cask Finish takes Glen Moray's standard lightly peated malt — distilled in traditional copper pot stills — and subjects it to a secondary finishing period in Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks. This finishing layer deposits dried fruit, walnut, and warm baking spice over the distillery's characteristic soft cereal and vanilla foundation derived from its primary American oak maturation.

What distinguishes this expression within Glen Moray's Classic range is the deliberate two-stage cask strategy: the American oak base is kept intentionally light so the sherry finish reads as an addition rather than an overwrite — a structural choice that keeps the ABV accessible at 40% without chill-filtration stripping texture. The result sits unusually close to an entry-level sherry-bomb profile at a fraction of the category price point.
