The Pogues Irish Whiskey was created in partnership with the London-Irish punk band of the same name — a deliberate move to anchor the spirit in the band's unapologetically Irish identity rather than produce a vanity label. Distillation takes place at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, the same facility behind some of Ireland's most storied grain and malt production, where the maritime climate of the Lee Valley moderates temperature swings and encourages slow, even maturation. The liquid is triple-distilled in the Irish tradition for a characteristically lighter, approachable spirit, then matured and finished across a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-oloroso sherry, and port casks — the port and sherry influence adding dried-fruit depth and a faint spice that cuts against the grain's natural sweetness. What separates this expression from standard entry-level Irish blends is that three-cask finishing regime at a price point where single-cask maturation is the norm.
