Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Unpeated Islay Single Malt (700 ml)
฿4,559
When the Harvey brothers built Bruichladdich on the western shore of Loch Indaal in 1881, they engineered the site on a gentle slope so that gravity alone — no pumps — would move every litre of liquid through production. That same unhurried logic governs the spirit today. Mashing begins in the original 1881 cast-iron open rake-and-plough mash tun, one of only three such vessels still operating in Scotland, before wort passes into six Douglas Fir wooden washbacks for deliberately slow fermentation — the porous timber considered inseparable from flavour development. Double distillation runs through unusually tall, narrow-necked spirit stills (6 metres, 0.9 m neck diameter) with shell-and-tube condensers, maximising copper reflux for a clean, barley-forward new make. The Classic Laddie is a multi-vintage assemblage drawing on diverse cask types — primarily ex-Bourbon barrels alongside French wine and sherry-seasoned oak — all matured on Islay in flat brick-built dunnage warehouses under Atlantic-maritime conditions that slow extraction and preserve freshness. Reduction uses water from the Octomore Farm spring, flowing through ancient Lewisian gneiss rock, a high-silica source unique to the island. Bottled at 50% ABV, no chill-filtration, no caramel colouring. The defining transgression: on an island synonymous with peat, this is 0 ppm — the flagship expression of the only distillery producing both the world's most heavily peated whisky and a wholly unpeated single malt under the same roof.
