Arran Gold Cream Liqueur (700 ml)
฿1,190
When Harold Currie, former Managing Director of Chivas Brothers, revived legal distillation on Arran in 1995 after a 160-year island silence, he built the Lochranza distillery around a deliberately clean, unpeated spirit — the same fruity, cereal-bright new make that forms the backbone of Arran Gold. That base spirit originates in Glen Eason Biorach ('Valley of the Sharp Waterfalls'), where water drawn from Loch na Davie descends through six waterfalls over granite bedrock, arriving at the distillery soft, mineral-clean, and low in dissolved solids — a water profile that keeps the spirit's natural sweetness unmuddied. At Lochranza, long fermentations of 60–75 hours in Oregon pine washbacks using Kerry M yeast are deliberately targeted to maximise fruity ester development, and tall-necked, long-lyne-arm copper pot stills (wash stills at 7,100 L; spirit stills at 4,300–4,800 L) enforce heavy copper contact, stripping sulphur and amplifying the orchard-fruit and citrus character that defines the house style. What sets Arran Gold apart within the cream liqueur category is its foundation in a non-chill-filtered, no-artificial-colouring single malt philosophy — a production ethic almost never carried through to a cream liqueur format. No vintage applies; drink on release.
