Old Malt Cask Cragganmore 16 Years (700 ml)
฿6,559
When the Laing family split their independent bottling assets in 2013, the Old Malt Cask range passed to Hunter Laing & Co. — and with it, a founding principle established in 1998: every release is a single cask, bottled once, never repeated. This Cragganmore 16-year-old is exactly that: one cask, one distillery, finite yield. Cragganmore sits in the Strathspey valley above the River Spey, where the distillery draws from a private spring and the surrounding terrain of alluvial gravel over clay moderates temperature swings, producing a spirit of unusual aromatic complexity even before wood contact. Maturation in a single refill cask — cask type, distillation year, and cask number stated on the label — allows the distillery character to develop without the dominant vanilla overlay of first-fill oak. Hunter Laing's monthly tasting panel selected this individual cask and bottled it at 50% ABV, non-chill-filtered, with no caramel colouring added — a deliberate house standard that sets OMC apart from peers defaulting to full cask strength, trading raw intensity for textural coherence while preserving every congener the refill wood has shaped. The special feature here is structural: unlike Cadenhead's or Signatory, OMC standardises at 50% rather than natural cask strength, a conscious accessibility decision that does not compromise integrity. Once this cask is exhausted, this exact expression ceases to exist.
