Plantation Venezuela 2010 Vintage Limited Edition Rum (700 ml)
฿5,219
Alexandre Gabriel's double-ageing model was built on a single conviction: that Caribbean rum, like 17th-century trade casks arriving in European port cellars, is transformed by a second maturation in a cooler, drier climate. The Venezuela 2010 Vintage Limited Edition is that argument made tangible — a single-origin distillate from Aragua, Venezuela's rum-producing heartland, aged first in tropical conditions in ex-bourbon American oak, where the angel's share runs at 6–7% per year, concentrating the raw cane character at a rate impossible in Europe. The rum then crossed the Atlantic to Château de Bonbonnet, Ars, Charentes, France, for a second maturation in ex-Ferrand French oak Cognac casks — the tighter grain and residual Cognac congeners pulling the spirit toward dried fruit, baking spice, and a tannin architecture no American oak alone could produce. What makes this expression categorically unusual is its origin: Venezuela contributes a distinctly lighter, drier molasses-based distillate profile compared to Plantation's Barbados or Jamaica marks, making the Cognac-cask influence more legible and the interplay between terroirs more transparent. As a vintage-dated, limited-edition single-origin release, it captures one harvest year's character without blending across origins. Drink now through the mid-2030s; the French oak integration will continue to knit.
