Le Morette Serai Bianco Veronese I.G.T.
฿850
Le Morette's clonal research on Turbiana — conducted in collaboration with the University of Milan and the Lugana Consortium — yielded three newly certified clones, making this family estate a scientific architect of the entire Lugana DOC's genetic future. That depth of varietal knowledge flows directly into the Serai Bianco Veronese I.G.T., a 100% Turbiana bottled under the broader Veronese designation.
The vines grow on compact, chalky, marly clay of glacial-moraine origin on the narrow strip between Lake Garda's southern shore and the UNESCO-listed Frassino Lake nature reserve. Clay content exceeds 40% in the estate's best parcels; the lake's surrounding mountains generate a pronounced diurnal temperature range that preserves aromatic tension in the grape.
Vinification is entirely in stainless steel, temperature-controlled at 16°C, with no skin contact and no oak at any stage — a deliberate choice to keep Turbiana's saline, mineral-driven character unmediated. Minimum one month of bottle aging before release; ABV sits at 12.5%, preserving freshness over weight.
What sets this apart: the estate's synthetic-chemical-free viticulture is structurally tied to protecting the tufted-duck habitat at Frassino Lake — biodiversity management is baked into the production model. Drink in its youth for maximum aromatic lift, though the high-clay mineral base gives it more mid-term structure than its entry-level positioning suggests.
