Castel Ringberg sits on the south-facing slopes above Bolzano in the Adige Valley, where slate-dominated soils and cool alpine air define one of Italy's most prestigious Riesling terroirs. Elena Walch's single-vineyard expression captures the site's mineral precision through cool-climate fermentation in stainless steel, preserving the wine's natural acidity and aromatic intensity. The vineyard's elevation—approximately 350–450 meters—and afternoon shade from surrounding peaks create extended ripening that builds complexity without overripeness. This is a Riesling of restraint: dry or off-dry finish, no oak influence, and a crystalline texture that reflects the schist bedrock. The 2022 vintage (or current release) shows the vintage's characteristic balance between ripeness and freshness, drinking well now through 2028.
