Antinori Villa Antinori Bianco Toscana IGT
฿
The Antinori family has produced wine continuously since 1385, and Villa Antinori Bianco represents the entry point into that lineage — a deliberately approachable white that nonetheless draws from estate-managed vineyards across the Toscana IGT zone. The IGT classification, established in 1992, gave Antinori the freedom to blend outside Denominazione constraints, and this wine exploits that latitude fully.
Sourced from Tuscan hillside sites where well-drained soils of galestro and alberese — the same fractured limestone-schist and compact clay that define Chianti Classico's best terroirs — limit vine vigour and concentrate aromatic intensity even at moderate elevations. The blend centres on Trebbiano Toscano with supporting roles from Malvasia and Pinot Grigio, varieties chosen for complementary texture and aromatic lift. Fermentation and aging proceed entirely in stainless steel, preserving primary fruit and keeping the wine's natural acidity intact without oxidative softening. No malolactic fermentation is pursued, maintaining the wine's structural tension. The result is a white that prioritises cut and immediacy over richness — an intentional counterpoint to the oak-driven whites that dominated Tuscany through the 1990s. Drink within 2–3 years of vintage for peak aromatic expression.
