Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs 2016
฿4,200
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon vinifies each of Roederer's 410+ parcels separately — a grower-house discipline almost unheard of at this production scale — and the Blanc de Blancs is where that parcel-level obsession finds its purest expression. 100% Chardonnay sourced exclusively from Cramant and Avize Grand Crus on the Côte des Blancs: limestone mid-slopes with thin clay-loam topsoil over pure chalk bedrock, delivering the tight mineral tension and citrus-driven precision that defines this sub-region. The 2016 vintage spent five years on lees followed by six months post-disgorgement — the longest lees regime of any non-prestige Roederer cuvée — building autolytic complexity without obscuring the chalk signature. Malolactic fermentation is partially blocked to preserve structural acidity and aging architecture, a deliberate counter to the softer, rounder house styles common among large Champagne maisons. What sets this expression apart: unlike the Brut Vintage, no Pinot Noir enters the blend and no reserve wines are incorporated, making it the only Roederer cuvée that speaks in a single voice — pure Côte des Blancs chalk, uncut. The 2016 growing season delivered natural tension and concentration; at release the wine carries both the freshness of its chalk origins and the textural depth of five years' lees contact, with a drinking window extending comfortably through the late 2020s.
