Quona Chianti Rufina Riserva DOC
฿฿
SaleChianti Rufina's eastern hills produce some of Tuscany's most mineral-driven Sangiovese, and I Veroni's Riserva designation signals commitment to the zone's classical style. The estate sources fruit from clay-limestone soils at 300–400 meters elevation, where morning fog and afternoon sun create the temperature swing essential for phenolic ripeness without overripeness.
The Riserva classification mandates minimum 24 months barrel aging — I Veroni employs a mix of French and Slavonian oak, a choice that preserves the wine's mineral spine while introducing subtle vanilla undertones. Sangiovese's natural acidity remains the structural backbone; the extended wood contact softens tannins without masking the variety's characteristic cherry-leaf and dried-herb profile.
What distinguishes this expression: Rufina's cooler microclimate produces wines with higher acidity and lower alcohol (typically 13.5–14%) than their Chianti Classico counterparts, making the Riserva age-worthy without heaviness. The 2016 or 2017 vintage (depending on current release) enters its drinking window now, with 8–12 years of evolution ahead.
