Graca 28 Reserva Douro DOC
฿590
Graca 28 Reserva originates from the steep, schist-terraced slopes of the Douro Valley, where granite and slate soils at 400–600m elevation create the mineral backbone characteristic of Portugal's premier red wine region. The blend centers on Touriga Nacional, supplemented by Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz—varieties bred for the Douro's extreme continental climate and intense summer heat.
The wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by 12 months in French oak barrels (mix of new and neutral wood), allowing gradual oxidative development and oak integration without overwhelming the fruit structure. The Reserva designation signals extended aging potential: this expression is built for 8–12 years of bottle evolution.
Graca 28's defining character lies in its mineral-driven profile—the schist terroir asserts itself through saline, slate-like tension that cuts across dark berry fruit, preventing the wine from becoming jammy despite the Douro's ripeness. The tannin architecture is deliberate and fine-grained rather than aggressive, a hallmark of quality Douro reds that prioritize aging grace over immediate power.
Vintage 2019 and forward show optimal drinking from 2024–2032.
