Chateau Latour 2015
฿฿฿฿
The 2015 vintage arrived during a warm, dry growing season across Bordeaux—conditions that favored Cabernet Sauvignon ripeness on the Left Bank. Château Latour's vineyard sits on the deep gravel plateau of Pauillac's northern sector, elevated above the Gironde estuary, with clay-iron subsoil that anchors mineral tension into the wine.
Technique: The 2015 blend comprises approximately 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. Fermentation in temperature-controlled wooden vats was followed by 18 months in new French oak (Latour's standard regime), with racking every three months. The wine was fined with egg white before bottling without filtration—a house practice that preserves tannin structure.
Special feature: The 2015 sits at the intersection of two Latour eras: it was the final vintage produced under the previous winemaking regime before the 2016 transition. This vintage shows the house's classical architecture—power without excess, mineral precision anchoring dark fruit.
Drinking window: 2025–2055. The wine remains in primary fruit phase; full integration of oak and tannin maturation will extend through the 2030s.
