Where the Grand Vin retains 12–20% Cabernet Sauvignon as a structural and mineral counterweight to old-vine Merlot, Pur Cab strips the proposition to its core: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, a deliberate transgression in a region where the variety is almost exclusively used as a blending component on the Left Bank and a minor accent on the Right.

Sourced under the broad Bordeaux AOC designation, the wine draws on Laborde's deep familiarity with Cabernet Sauvignon's behaviour in the Gironde — a variety he has championed at Clinet when most Pomerol neighbours removed it entirely after the 1956 frost. Vinification follows the Clinet philosophy of measured extraction, with the resulting wine aged in French oak to preserve varietal precision over extracted weight.
