Barolo Parussi DOCG
฿฿฿
Massolino's Parussi represents a singular expression of Barolo's most prized microclimate. The vineyard sits on the southeast-facing slopes of Monforte d'Alba, at 320–380 meters elevation, where calcareous clay and limestone-rich soils impart mineral precision to Nebbiolo. The aspect captures morning sun and afternoon shade, extending ripening into October and building phenolic complexity without overripeness.
Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak casks (30+ hectoliters) for 24–30 months, allowing the wine to develop without oak dominance. The extended cask aging softens tannins while preserving the site's characteristic tar, rose, and dried-cherry aromatics. Malolactic fermentation completes in barrel, integrating acidity naturally.
Parussi is distinguished by its mineral backbone and restrained power—Nebbiolo at its most architectural rather than voluptuous. The 2019 and 2020 vintages show the wine's ability to age gracefully for 15–20 years, with tannins resolving into silken texture by year five.
