Sakuna Rose
฿฿
Granmonte was founded in 1999 by the Thanasukarn family, who chose the Asoke Valley in Khao Yai specifically because its elevation — sitting above 400 metres — delivers the diurnal temperature swings that tropical viticulture otherwise lacks. That 15–20 °C day-to-night differential is the single reason Syrah can retain acidity here rather than baking into flat, overripe fruit. The valley's red-clay and laterite soils add a mineral tension that distinguishes Asoke fruit from lower-lying Khao Yai plots. Sakuna Rosé is produced from Syrah harvested at controlled ripeness to preserve freshness, then vinified dry with short skin contact to extract colour and texture without tannin weight. Fermentation targets aromatic lift over extraction. What sets this wine apart within the Thai category is its deliberate single-varietal Syrah identity — most regional rosés blend for approachability, while Sakuna commits to Syrah's peppery, savoury character as a point of difference. The result is a structured, dry rosé with genuine site expression rather than a fruit-forward tropical confection — a meaningful distinction at this price point in the Thai market.
