Rugged Coast 30 is the range's deliberate provocation: a peated blended Scotch that marries Island peated malt with Speyside sherried character, a combination most blenders keep at arm's length. The component malts and Lowland grain whiskies have rested for a minimum of 30 years in American oak ex-bourbon and European oak ex-sherry casks before a finishing period in Oloroso Sherry casks, which press dried dark fruit and oxidative nuttiness into the smoke rather than softening it away.
