Glen Scotia
Glen Scotia 10 Year Old Unpeated Single Malt Whisky (700 ml)
฿3,200
Glen Scotia traces its continuous operation on Campbeltown's High Street to 1832, surviving the catastrophic collapse of the town's whisky industry that shuttered over two dozen distilleries — making its survival a deliberate act of stubbornness as much as commerce. Campbeltown sits on the Kintyre peninsula, a narrow finger of land flanked by the Atlantic and the Firth of Clyde, where salt-laden sea winds penetrate warehouse walls and imprint a coastal salinity onto maturing spirit that no inland distillery can replicate. The 10 Year Old is expressly unpeated, separating it from Glen Scotia's peated expressions and allowing the distillery character — a waxy, slightly oily new-make from traditional copper pot stills — to speak without smoke interference. Maturation draws on a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks, the former contributing vanilla and coconut, the latter layering dried fruit and spice across the decade-long rest. What sets this expression apart within Campbeltown's tiny three-distillery appellation is its accessibility: a clean, maritime-forward profile at a modest age statement that demonstrates the region's saline signature without demanding the patience of older releases. Drink now through 2030.
